Design Workshop for the series of Mediterranean Pilot ‘Success Scenario and Roadmapping’ Workshops

Venue: CKA premises in Brussels
Dates: 3 to 5 December 2007

The general approach for each session of the following programme is to start with the introduction of basic concepts and follow this immediately with facilitated working session. Each expert will create a fully developed pilot programme to introduce and test out new foresight techniques on the basis of sectoral and structural themes of immediate importance for the development of MEDA Research and Innovation systems.

Monday 3 December Morning Session

Part 1 - Network Initiation: Presentation of Foresight Activities in Egypt, Jordan, Morocco and Tunisia

Monday 3 December Afternoon Session

Part 3 – Develop main themes for the Foresight Pilot activities: Each partner presents the sectoral and structural themes that will be addressed in their pilot exercises.

 

Tuesday 4 December Morning Session

Part 4 – Trends, Issues and Drivers of Change: Each group examines the themes in terms of trends that affect the future, what is driving change and how as well as the main issues that will arise and require attention in the course of a fully developed foresight action.

Part 5 – Stakeholder Analysis: Based on the preceding results the experts will examine who are the stakeholders related to the topics they have chosen, in what sense they are stakeholders, at what stage and in what way they can be involved in a foresight action.

 

Tuesday 4 December Afternoon Session

Part 6 - Alternative Futures and Success Scenarios: Based on the preceding work the experts will develop a range of alternative futures. Finally they consider a series of success scenarios.

Part 7 – Roadmapping: This introduces the process of explaining how a specific success scenario can be reached in terms of phased actions for follow-up.

Wednesday 5 December – Morning Session

Part 8 – Synthesis: An overview of the whole process to check how one stage builds upon the other and how they all fit together

Part 9 – Pilot Project Implementation and Dissemination: Local training and pilot project execution, dissemination and the writing of the MEDA Foresight Manual.
